The short, simply titled “Giant God Warrior Appears in Tokyo”  is the collective works of Neon Genesis Evangelion animator Shinji Higuchi, Studio Ghibli, and Studio Ghibli‘s own Hayao Miyazaki who did the design for the monster.

For hardcore Studio Ghibli fans, you would be pleased to hear that this short serves as a prequel to Nausicaa and the Valley of the Wind. 

I, personally never know that Nausicaa was a modern post-apocalyptic setting, but I guess that makes it pretty darn cool!

The short was originally shown in theaters with select Neon Genesis movies.
