Newest Dragon Ball Z Film Grosses Big!

It was opening weekend for Dragon Ball Z: Battle of the Gods, and everyone involved seems to be feeling pretty good so far. It had the highest grossing numbers overseas out of all films that weren’t produced in America.

In Japan, Battle of the Gods was being screened in 328 theaters; including 16 IMAX theaters. The IMAX tickets in total contributed $450,000 to the earnings of the film, while all other screens brought in about $28,000 per theater. In total, Dragon Ball Z: Battle of the Gods, brought in over $7 million US dollars.

Movies that were produced in America and beat out the newest Dragon Ball Z flick were Oz the Great and Powerful, Jack the Giant Slayer, The Croods and G.I. Joe: Retaliation. G.I. Joe took the top spot grossing over $132 million worldwide. Paramount is already on its way to developing a third film because of the success of Retaliation.
