By now we are all well aware of the new upcoming games, Pokémon X & Y, and further information is trickling out, such as the starters and legendary pokémon. The initial announcement came on January 8th, and was shocking because of the recent release of Pokémon Black/White 2. Regardless, these new games and the sixth generation of Pokémon are very welcome.
The starters have been officially announced as Fennekin, Chespin and Froakie, and fans are not afraid to voice theiropinions. Fennekin is the fire type pokémon, and looks like somewhat of a mix between first generation Pokémon, Arcanine and Vulpix. Froakie is the water type, and his name sounds like what he looks like (frog) just as Squirtle (turtle) did back in the day. The starting grass type pokémon this time around is Chespin, who looks sort of like an otter with a leaf-inspired hat on, so I’m not sure what to expect from that one. Anyway, they all lookpretty harmless, but then again who originally expected that tiny Pikachu to fry Ash to a crisp, or that baby Bulbasaur to turn into a fat pimply menace? Personally, I’m most excited to see what happens with Fennekin, but what do you guys think?Xerneas and Yveltal are two other pokémon that have been shown to audiences. They are the legendary pokémon for this generation, as well as the inspiration for the new games names, X & Y. Xerneas reminds me slightly of a bony version of the forest spirit from Princess Mononoke. Can anyone see other anime influences in these pokémon?
So we’ve gotten a better look at a few of the pokémon in the sixth generation, and hopefully it won’t be long until more information is leaked. What do you guys expect to see this time around? Is anyone really pulling for something in particular? Let us know, and keep an eye out for announcements on the games before they’re released in October 2013!
